Bridge surface radiant element (Model¢ only)
The cooktopisequippedwitha "BRIDGE" surfaceelement
locatedat theleftFrontand middle(Fig.i) positions.
The Bridgecan be used when cookingwith rectangular
(likea griddle)or ovalshaped cookware.The element
willmaintainan even temperaturesettingacrossboth
portionsofthe Bridge.Ifneeded fornormalcookware,
theBridgeelementcan work likea singleelementwithout
theBridge(Fig.4).The ® symbol indicatesthatonlythe
Frontpotionwillheat(Fig.2).The _ symbol indicatesthat
bothFrontand middleportionswillheat(Fig.3).You may
switchfrom eithercoilsettingat any timeduringcooking.
To Operate the Bridge Surface Element
1. Place correctly sized cookware on the Bridge surface
element.
2. Push in and turn the control knob as shown in Figure
2 to heat the front portion of the Bridge element for
normal shaped cookware or in Figure 3 for larger
or rectangular shaped cookware. Turn the knob to
adjust the setting if needed. Start most cooking
operations on a higher setting and then turn to a
lower setting to finish cooking. Each surface element
provides a constant amount of heat at each setting.
A glowing red surface heating area extending
beyond the bottom edge of the cookware indicates
the cookware is too small. Please note that not all
cookware will fit the Bridge element correctly.
3. When cooking has completed, turn the surface
control knob to OFF before removing the cookware.
The BRIDGE element may also be used in combination
with the left rear single element (Fig. 6). Because these
elements have 2 different controls, one element can be
used to cook while the other element may be used to
keep food warm.

Do not place plastic items such as salt and pepper
shakers, spoon holders or plastic wrappings on
cooktop when it is in use. These items could melt or
ignite. Potholders, towels or wooden spoons could catch
fire if placed too close to the surface elements.
Do not allow aluminum foil, or ANY material that
can melt to make contact with the ceramic glass
cooktop, If these items melt on the cooktop they will
damage the ceramic cooktop.
The surface"Element On" indicatorlights will glow when
one or more elements are turned on. A quick glance at
these indicator lights when cooking is finished is an easy
check to be sure all surface elements are turned off.

Radiant surface elements may appear to have cooled
after they have been turned OFF. lie (Hot Element)
message will turn ON and will continue to glow until the
glass cooktop has cooled down to a moderate level. The
glass surface may still be hot and burns may occur if
the glass surface is touched before the indicator light has
turned OFF. The message may remain on even though
the controls are turned OFF.
