Safe Operation Practices for Trimmer.
WARNING: Look for this symbol to point out important safety precautions.

I. General Operation
1. Read, understand,and follow all instruc-
tionsonthe machineand inthe manual(s).
Be thoroughlyfamiliarwiththe controlsand
the properuseofthe trimmerbeforestart-
ing.
2. Familiarize yourselfwith all of the safety
and operating decals on this equipment
and onany of itsattachmentsor accesso-
ries.
3. Do eotputhandsorfastnearorundsrrotat-
ingparts.
4. Onlyallowresponsibleindividuals,whoare
familiarwiththe instructions,tooperatethe
trimmer.
5. Inspectthe areawherethe trimmeristo be
used. Yourequipmentcanpropelsmallob-
jcotsat highspeedcausingpersonal injury
or property damage. Stay away from
breakable objects, such as house win-
dows,autoglass,greenhouses,etc.
6. Keepthe areaofoperationclearof all per-
cons,particularlysmallchildren,and pets.
7. Wearappropriateclothingsuchasa long-
sleevedsNrtorjacket.AIcowearlongtrou-
sereor slacks. Donotwear shorts.
8. Do notwear louseclothingwhich couldget
caughtin this equipment.
9. Always wear safety goggles or safety
glasseswith side shieldswhen operating
trimmerto protectyour eyes from foreign
objectswhichcanbe thrown fromthe unit.
10. Always wear workglovesand sturdyfont-
wear. Leatherworkshoes or shortboots
workwellformostpeople. Thesewillpro-
tect the operator'sankles and shinsfrom
smallsticks, splinters,and other debds,
andimprovetraction.
11. Itisadvisable to wear protectiveheadgear
topreventthe possibilityofbeingstruck by
smallflyingparticles,orbeingsf_K:kby low
hangingbranches,twigs,or otherobjects
whichmay beunnoticedbythe operator.
12. Do notoperatethe trimmerwithoutproper
guards or othersafety protectivedevices
in place.
13. Use this equipmentfor its intendedpur-
poseonly.
14. See manufacturer's instructionsforproper
operationand installationof accessories.

Only use accessoriesapproved by the

15. Operate onlyin daylightor goodartificial
light.
16. Do notoperatethe trimmerwhileunderthe
influenceofalcohol,drugsorothermedica-
tionwhich can causedrowsinessor affect
yourabilitytooperatethis machine safely.
17. Never operate trimmer in wet grass. Al-
waysbe sureof yourfooting;keep a firm
holdonthe handleandwalk;neverrun.
18. Beforeeach use, inspectthethrotUecon-
trol leverand cable. Make surethat the
cableisfree andthat the leverisnotdam-
aged. Alsocheckthecablelinkagerunning
to the carburetor for kinks,lousefittings,
and obstructions. Vedfy that the control
bailisworkingproperly.
19. Stopthe rotatingtrimmerheadwhen cross-
inggraveldrives,walks,or roads. Waitfor
the cuttinglinestostoprotating.
20, Watchfor trafficwhen operatingnear, or
whencrossingroads.
21. Stop the engine (motor) whenever you
leave the equlpmant,before cleaning re-
pairingor inspectingthe unit,be sure the
trimmerhead and all movingparts have
stopped. Letthe enginecool,disconnect
the sparkplugwireand moveit awayfrom
the sparkplug.
22. Ifthe equipment shouldstarttovibrateab-
normally,stopthe engine(motor),discon-
nectthesparkplugwireand preventitfrom
touchingthe sparkplug. Checkimmediate-
ly for the cause. Vibrationis generallya
wamingoftrouble.
23. Afterstrikinga foreignobject,stopthe en-
gine (motor). Remove the wire from the
spark plug. Inspectthe trimmerfor dam-
age. Ifdamaged,repairbefore sta_ng and
operatingthe trimmer.
24. Neverleavethe trimmerunattendedwhen
the engineis running. Remove the wire
fromthe sparkplug.
25. Regularlyinspectthe trimmer. Makesure
partsare notbent, damagedor louse.
II. Slope Operation
Slopes are a major factor related to slip and fall
