DFT Installation Instructions
Routing Cold Lead
It is important to properly de-coil the cable to prevent twisting (see example in Figure 10)
Using a fish cord, pull the cold lead and sensor wire Allow at least 6" (150mm) of cold lead and sensor
wire to project from the ECB (Figure 11 shows how)
DO NOT REMOVE IDENTIFICATION LABEL If necessary, ID label can be moved on cold leads so that it
remains inside the ECB
Due to the larger cable diameter of the cold lead splice, remove approximately 3/16" (5mm) of sub-floor
material where the splice will be fastened, to eliminate any possible interference with the tile Secure the
cold lead splice and tail splice with the plastic clips (shown in Figure 12 below)

Installing Cable
Place Heating Cable between the tabs and loop around to secure in place (see Figure 13) Proceed with
cable installation following the Floor Layout Plan, space at intervals of 3" (3 tabs) for Standard Heating
Cable Spacing (as shown in Figure 14) and every 3" - 2" - 3" - 2" (3-2-3-2 tabs) for Alternating Heating
Cable Spacing (as shown in Figure 15)
Apply sucient tension to the cable so that it is tightly secured around the tabs
The cable loop should not extend beyond 1/2" (13mm) from the outside edge of the strapping
NOTE: HEATING CABLE MUST BE INSTALLED IN THE STRAPPING IN THE MANNER DESCRIBED
FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN IMPROPER SYSTEM OPERATION
