#1 Is the top of the discharge pipe 22 inches? That seems rather high.

It does seem high but that is because both pumps need to have check valves and then to be connected together at a "wyee" so it needs to be that high.

#2 What's the minimum size basin this will fit in?

We recommend a basin diameter of 18" or larger. Some folks have re-configured the pump connections and fit it into one slightly smaller but we do not recommend you do that.
