FUEL GAS ODOR
LP gas and natural gas have man‑made odorants
added specifically for detection of fuel gas leaks.
If a gas leak occurs you should be able to smell the
fuel gas. Since Propane (LP) is heavier than air you
should smell for the gas odor low to the floor. ANY
GAS ODOR IS YOUR SIGNAL TO GO INTO IMMEDIATE
ACTION!

Useittobecomefamiliarwiththefuelgasodor.
•Smokingcandecreaseyourabilitytosmell.Being
aroundanodorforaperiodoftimecanaffectyour
sensitivitytothatparticularodor.Odorspresentin
animalconfinementbuildingscanmaskfuelgasodor.
•The odorant in propane (LP) gas and natural gas
is colorless and the intensity of its odor can fade
under some circumstances.
•Ifthereisanundergroundleak,themovementofgas
throughthesoilcanfiltertheodorant.
•Propane(LP)gasodormaydifferinintensityatdifferent
levels.SincePropane(LP)gasisheavierthanair,there
maybemoreodoratlowerlevels.
• Always be sensitive to the slightest gas odor. Ifyou
continuetodetectanygasodor,nomatterhowsmall,
treatitasaseriousleak.Immediatelygointoactionas

• Thisheaterissafeforindooruseinsmallrecreational
enclosureshavingmeansforprovidingcombustion
airandventilation,suchasenclosedporches,cabins,
fishinghuts,trailers,tenttrailers,tents,truckcapsand
vans.Itmaybeusedforemergencyindoorheating
whenconnectedtoadisposable1lb.propanecylinder
andforindooruseincommercialenclosures,having
meansforprovidingcombustionairandventilation,
suchasconstructiontrailersortemporaryworkenclo-
sures.
Note:Theheatercanbeusedoutdoors,butmay
experiencenuisanceshutoffsduetocertainwind

• Whentheheateriscoldoratroomtemperature,itwill
takeafewminutesfortheburnertiletoturnbrightor-
ange.Thisisnormalandtheheaterisworkingproperly.

• Theprotectivegrillonthefrontofthisheateriscoatedwith
aspecialhigh-temperatureresistantpaint.Whentheheater
isusedforthefirsttime,thegrillmaygiveoffnoticeable
smokeorfumes.Thisisnormalandwillnotoccurduring
subsequentuses.Thefumesarenotharmful.
• When operating the heater at altitudes over 7,000
FT. above sea level, the unit may not burn as bright
as in lower altitudes. This is normal. At higher
altitudes, the heater may shut off. If this happens,
provide fresh air, wait 5 minutes and re‑light. Due to
local atmospheric conditions heater may not re‑light.
• Operatingtimewillvarydependingontheheater
settingandthesupplycylindersize.Upto1.5to3.5
hoursona1lb.cylinder.Upto36to72hoursona20
lb.cylinder(basedon“HI”and“LO”settings).Dueto

The Pulse Ignition Button is located in the front stor‑
age compartment (Ref.5).
Unscrew the button cap to install the “AA” battery
(included), with positive end toward the button.
MAINTENANCE:
Alwayskeeptheheaterareaclearandfreefromcombus-
tiblematerials,gasolineandotherflammablevaporsand
liquids.
Keeptheventareas(slotsinthebottomandthetopatthe
frontandrearofheater)clearatalltimes.

6 Inspectinteriorofhousingforaccumulationofdust,lint
orspiderwebs.Ifnecessary,cleaninteriorhousingwith
avacuumcleanerorapplyairpressure.Donotdamage
anycomponentswithinthehousingassemblywhenyou
arecleaning.
7 Inspectandcleanmainburnerorifice(threadedinto
orificeholder).Orificeholderisattachedtotheburner
assemblyventuriwith(2)twoscrews.
8 Inspectandcleanpilot(mountedtobracket)byusinga
vacuumorapplyairpressurethroughtheholesinthe
pilotindicatedbythearrowsinFigure6.
WARNING:Neveruseneedles,wires,orsimilarcylin-
dricalobjectstocleanthepilottoavoiddamagingthe
calibratedorificethatcontrolsthegasflow.

Visuallyinspectthepilotflameandburnerperiodicallydur-
inguse.Thepilotflameshouldbeblueincolor(notyellow)
andwillextendbeyondthethermocouple.Theflamewill
surroundthethermocouplejustbelowthetip,seeFigure6.
Aslightyellowflamemayoccurwherethepilotflame
andmainburnerflamemeet.Theburnershouldbebright
orange(withaslightbluecoloraroundtheborder,ared-
orangehazethatisvisibleontheceramictileisacceptable)

tornarseanaranjadobrillante.Estoesnormalyelcalentadorestá
funcionandocorrectamente.Sielazulejodelquemadortiene
llamasvisibles,apagueelcalentadoryllameauntécnicode
reparacióncalificado.
• Cuandolaunidadestáencendida,debehaberunbordede
aproximadamente6,35milímetrosalrededordelazulejoqueno
setornaráanaranjadobrillante.Estoesnormal.
• Cuandoopereelcalentadorporprimeravez,esposiblequeel
áreasuperiordelreflectorsedecolore.Estotambiénesnormaly
noesmotivodepreocupación.
• Cuando ponga en funcionamiento el calentador a altitudes
superiores a los 2.133,6 M sobre el nivel del mar, es posible
que la unidad no queme de forma tan brillante como en
altitudes más bajas. Esto es normal. A altitudes más altas,

suministro, deje que el calentador consuma el propano en
la línea de suministro hasta que se apague, luego presione
levemente la perilla de control hacia adentro y gírela en
sentido horario hasta la posición “OFF” (apagado).
• PRECAUCIÓN:Despuésdeapagarelcalentador,larejilla
protectorapermanecerácaliente.Dejeenfriarporcompletoantes
deguardar.
• Cuandonoestéenuso,sedebeapagarelgasdelcilindrode
suministrodegasPL.Comosemencionóanteriormente,deje
queelcalentadorconsumaelpropanoenlalíneadesuministro

(Ref.5).
Desatornille el casquillo del botón para instalar la
batería del “AA” (incluida), con el extremo posi‑
