Maintaining your refrigerator
Your refrigerator is designed for year-round use with only minimal cleaning and
maintenance.
When you first receive your refrigerator, wipe the cabinet with a mild detergent
and warm water, then wipe dry with a dry cloth. Do this periodically to keep your
refrigerator looking new.
Cleaning the interior of your refrigerator
1 Unplug your refrigerator.
2 Remove all food.
3 Remove the shelves (see Adjusting the shelves on page 15), door racks (see
Adjusting the door racks on page 15), and crisper (see Removing the crisper
on page 15).
4 Clean the door, drawers, shelves, racks, and cabinet surfaces with a mild
detergent, then rinse with warm water using a damp sponge or cloth.
5 Wash the inside with a warm, damp cloth soaked in a solution of one quart of
lukewarm water to two tablespoons of baking soda.
6 Dry all surfaces and removable parts before reinstalling them.
7 Plug in your refrigerator.
Defrosting your refrigerator
1 Turn off your refrigerator, then remove the food from the refrigerator and
freezer and, if possible, place it where it won’t get warm and spoil.
CAUTION:
To prevent damage to the finish, don’t clean it with:
Gasoline, benzine, thinner, or other similar solvents.
•Abrasive cleaners.
Do not use sharp objects because they are likely to scratch the finish.
CAUTION: Make sure that you keep the door gasket (seal) clean to keep your refrigerator
running efficiently.
