If you are not satisfied with your
stored food (for example the food
wilts or becomes withered after only
a short storage time), check the
following again:
^ Store only fresh food. The initial
condition of the food is most
important for maintaining freshness.
^ Before storing food, clean the
SmartFresh zone.
^ Very moist food should be dried off
before storing it.
^ Do not store cold-sensitive food in
the SmartFresh zone.
^ Remember that not all foods can be
stored together.
^ For optimal storage conditions, it is
always best to store similar foods
together in one drawer (for humid or
dry storage).
^ The food in the humid SmartFresh
drawer should be stored unwrapped.
A high humidity in the SmartFresh
zone is created solely by the
moisture in the stored food. If the
humidity level is not high enough, for
example when not enough food is
stored, the humidity level can be
raised with a damp sponge..
^ If you feel that the temperature in the
SmartFresh zone is too high or too
low, try to adjust it by raising or
lowering the temperature in the
refrigerator by 1 to 2 °C. Make sure
that ice crystals do not form on the
bottom of the SmartFresh zone; if this
happens the temperature must be
increased, otherwise the food will be
damaged by the cold.
^ Do not allow water to collect on the
bottom of the SmartFresh zone, use a
cloth to dry it. If necessary, wipe food
dry before storing it, or put a grill on
the bottom of the SmartFresh zone so
that the moisture can drain off.
