GE - General Electric JB755SJ1SS Questions and Answers

#1 An hour after baking brownies the oven is still warm and almost feels like it's baking? I hit the cancel button but it doesn't seem to be cooling down? Is this normal?

The cool down for the oven can vary greatly depending on location, baking temperature, and other factors. If you suspect it may still be heating after setting the controls to off, pay close attention to the bake and broil elements. If they continue to glow red, this would not be normal. Disconnect power to the oven immediately and call 1-800-432-2737 for a service technician to diagnose and repair the issue.

#2 I just got an enamel finish cast iron Dutch oven. Is it OK/safe to use on the glass cooktop??

The type of cookware you use on a radiant cooktop can affect how it performs. We recommend using medium or heavy-weight cookware.

Flat Bottom pans are essential for good cooking performance since the bottom of the pan needs to touch the glass for the best heat transfer. Most current brands sold today have flat bottoms. Much older, used cookware and/or thinner cookware will show signs of no longer being flat.

Using Porcelain Coated Cast Iron cookware is okay as long as the cookware is covered completely with porcelain enamel. Caution is recommended when using cast iron cookware that is not completely covered with smooth porcelain enamel, as it may scratch the glass ceramic cooktop. Additionally, if used at hi heat for a long period it will hold heat as described for plain cast iron and could shut down in response to the temperature limiters which indicate surface temperature is too high for cooktop components to handle.

I hope this helps.

#3 What is the minimum temperature that can be set on the oven?

Minimum temperature is 170F and maximum temperature is 550F

Keep in touch!

#4 How long doeas it take for the door to unlock after cleaning?

The door will stay locked until the oven has cooled down. This may take 30-90 minutes.

#5 There's a very strong chemical odor coming from the oven the first time I used it. I read in the directions that this is due to the manufacturing process. How many times and at what temp must I conduct "dry runs" without food before this odor goes away?

We recommend running the self-clean cycle for a minimum of 3 hours. The 3 hour self-clean helps dissipate the odor and smoke. After one self-clean cycle, the odor should be virtually gone when using the basic cooking functions.

Feel free to reach out with any more questions.
