Tool Description & Controls

Hammer drill corded tool overview

Main Components

  • Motor Housing: Contains the 9 Amp motor. Made of aluminum alloy for durability.
  • SDS-Plus Chuck: Accepts SDS-Plus bits. Allows for tool-free insertion and removal with automatic locking.
  • Mode Selector Switch: A dial or switch to select between the three operating functions.
  • Trigger Switch: The main power trigger. The tool operates when this is depressed.
  • Adjustable Side Handle: Can be rotated 360° and positioned to suit the user's grip and application.
  • Depth Gauge Rod: A rod that can be set to limit drilling depth.

Function Selection

The tool has three operating modes, selected via the mode selector switch:

  1. Hammering with Rotation (Rotary Hammer Mode): For drilling into concrete, masonry, and stone. The bit both rotates and hammers.
  2. Hammering Only (Hammer Only Mode): For chiseling, demolition, and breaking tasks. The bit does not rotate, only hammers.
  3. Rotation Only (Drill Mode): For drilling into wood and metal without hammering action.

Use Guide

Before First Use

  1. Inspect the tool, power cord, and all components for damage. Do not use if damaged.
  2. Ensure your work area is clean, well-lit, and free of obstructions.
  3. Verify your electrical outlet is 120V AC and grounded.

Installing the Side Handle

  1. Loosen the handle's clamping collar.
  2. Slide the handle onto the threaded stud at the front of the tool.
  3. Rotate the handle to your desired position (left, right, top, or bottom).
  4. Tighten the clamping collar securely.

Installing and Removing SDS-Plus Bits

WARNING: Always disconnect the power cord before changing bits.

  1. To Install: Pull the chuck sleeve back. Insert the SDS-Plus bit into the chuck until it clicks into place. Release the sleeve.
  2. To Remove: Pull the chuck sleeve back and pull the bit out.

Setting the Drilling Depth

  1. Loosen the locking knob on the depth gauge rod.
  2. Slide the rod so the desired depth aligns with the end of the chuck.
  3. Tighten the locking knob.

Operating the Tool

  1. Select the appropriate operating mode using the mode selector switch.
  2. Firmly grip the main handle and the side handle.
  3. Place the bit tip on the work surface.
  4. Press the trigger to start the tool. Apply steady, moderate forward pressure. Let the tool do the work; do not force it.
  5. For drilling, periodically pull the bit out to clear dust from the hole.
  6. Release the trigger to stop.

Chiseling Operation

  1. Set the mode selector to Hammer Only.
  2. Install the flat chisel or point chisel.
  3. You can rotate the chisel to different positions manually for various demolition tasks.

Maintenance

WARNING: Always disconnect the power cord before performing any maintenance.

Lubrication

The tool requires periodic greasing of the hammer mechanism.

  1. When you notice a decrease in hammering power or impact force, it is time to add grease.
  2. Use the provided grease or a compatible type (e.g., Shell Gadus S5 series, Mobil SHC series).
  3. Add approximately 0.7 to 1 ounce (20-30 grams) of grease into the grease port. Refer to the tool's specific grease fitting location.
  4. Run the tool in Hammer Only mode for a short time without load to distribute the grease.

Carbon Brush Replacement

The motor uses carbon brushes that wear with use.

  1. Replace the carbon brushes when you notice excessive sparking, a burning smell, or a loss of power.
  2. Locate the brush caps on the sides of the motor housing.
  3. Remove the caps using a screwdriver.
  4. Remove the worn brushes and insert the new ones from the included spare set.
  5. Replace the caps.

General Care

  • Keep the air vents clean and free of dust to prevent overheating.
  • Wipe the tool clean with a dry cloth after use.
  • Store the tool and accessories in the provided carrying case in a dry place.
  • Inspect the power cord regularly for damage.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Tool does not start Power cord not connected; Trigger not pressed; Faulty outlet. Check power connection and outlet. Ensure trigger is fully depressed.
Tool operates but does not hammer Mode selector not in hammer mode; Worn or dry hammer mechanism. Set to "Hammer with Rotation" or "Hammer Only". Add grease to the mechanism.
Bit slips or does not lock Wrong bit type (not SDS-Plus); Chuck sleeve damaged or dirty. Use only SDS-Plus bits. Clean the chuck and bit shank. Ensure bit is fully inserted until it clicks.
Excessive vibration or noise Worn carbon brushes; Damaged internal components; Bit not secured. Replace carbon brushes. Check bit installation. Contact support if problem persists.
Motor overheats Blocked air vents; Overloading the tool; Excessive runtime. Clean air vents. Allow tool to cool down. Use appropriate pressure; do not force the tool.
