4. Features and Controls
4.1 Temperature Control Dial
Rotate the dial to select the appropriate temperature for the fabric you are ironing. The iron may feature automatic fabric detection to aid in temperature selection.
- Low (•): For delicate fabrics like silk, nylon, and polyester.
- Medium (••): For wool and blends.
- High (•••): For cotton and linen.
4.2 Steam Functions
- Continuous Steam: Provides a steady flow of steam during ironing. Activated by setting the steam control.
- Steam Burst: Delivers a powerful shot of steam for stubborn wrinkles. Press the burst button as needed.
- Vertical Steam: Allows you to steam hanging garments, curtains, or drapes by holding the iron vertically and pressing the steam button.
4.3 Spray Function
Press the spray button to mist water directly onto the fabric to help remove deep wrinkles.
4.4 Self-Cleaning Function
This function helps to remove mineral deposits (limescale) from the internal steam channels. It is recommended to use this function approximately every two weeks, depending on water hardness and frequency of use.
5. Before First Use
- Unpack the iron and remove all protective films or stickers from the soleplate and body.
- Check for any water droplets in the tank. This is normal, as the iron is tested at the factory.
- Place the iron on a stable, heat-resistant surface (like the heel rest of an ironing board).
- Fill the water tank as described in Section 6.
- Plug the iron into a 120V electrical outlet.
- Set the temperature dial to the maximum setting and allow the iron to heat up for a few minutes. You may notice a slight odor or small amount of smoke initially; this is normal and should dissipate quickly.
- Unplug the iron and allow it to cool. Empty any remaining water from the tank. The iron is now ready for normal use.
6. Filling the Water Tank
- Ensure the iron is unplugged and has cooled down.
- Set the iron upright on its heel.
- Set the steam control to the "0" or off position.
- Open the water inlet cover.
- Using the provided filling cup, pour water into the tank up to the "MAX" indicator. Do not overfill.
Note: You can use tap water. If your water is very hard (high mineral content), using distilled or demineralized water can reduce limescale buildup.
- Close the water inlet cover securely.
7. Ironing Guide
- Sort Fabrics: Sort laundry by ironing temperature (low to high). Check garment care labels.
- Set Temperature: Plug in the iron. Set the temperature dial to match the fabric type.
- Preheat: Allow the iron to reach the selected temperature. The indicator light, if present, will turn off when ready.
- Select Steam: For steam ironing, set the steam control to the desired level. For dry ironing, set it to "0".
- Begin Ironing:
- Glide the iron smoothly over the fabric. Do not press down excessively.
- Use the steam burst button for tough wrinkles.
- Use the spray button to dampen areas if needed.
- Vertical Steaming: Hang the garment. Hold the iron vertically, close to but not touching the fabric. Press and hold the steam burst button.
- After Use: Unplug the iron. Set the steam control to "0". Empty any remaining water from the tank by tilting the iron over a sink. Stand the iron upright on its heel to cool completely before storing.
8. Self-Cleaning Procedure
Recommended Frequency: Perform this procedure every 2 weeks, or more often if you have hard water.
- Fill the water tank to about half full.
- Plug in the iron and set the temperature dial to the maximum setting.
- Allow the iron to heat up fully.
- Unplug the iron from the electrical outlet.
- Hold the iron over a sink or basin with the soleplate facing down.
- Press and hold the self-clean button (if dedicated) or follow the specific instructions in your manual (e.g., pressing the steam burst button repeatedly). Steam and hot water will flush out through the soleplate, carrying mineral deposits with it.
- Continue until the water tank is empty.
- Allow the iron to cool completely. Wipe the soleplate with a soft, damp cloth to remove any residual deposits.
9. Care and Maintenance
- Soleplate: Wipe clean with a soft, damp cloth when cool. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- Exterior: Wipe the body and handle with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use chemical cleaners.
- Storage: Empty the water tank after each use. Store the iron upright in a dry place. Allow the cord to cool before wrapping it loosely around the heel rest or storage hooks.
- Calc Prevention: Regular use of the self-cleaning function and using distilled water (in hard water areas) will extend the life of the iron.
