Use Guide

Initial Setup

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all items from the packaging.
  2. Inspect: Check the guitar, amplifier, and accessories for any visible damage from shipping.
  3. Assemble the Strap: Attach the guitar strap to the strap pins located on the bottom and the horn of the guitar body.
  4. Connect the Cable: Plug one end of the included instrument cable into the output jack on the guitar. Plug the other end into the input jack on the amplifier.
  5. Power the Amplifier: Connect the amplifier's power adapter to a wall outlet and turn the amplifier on using its power switch. Start with the volume and gain controls at a low setting.

Tuning the Guitar

The guitar comes with strings installed but will require tuning. You will need a separate electronic guitar tuner (not included). The standard tuning for the six strings, from the thickest (6th) to thinnest (1st), is E, A, D, G, B, E.

  • Turn the tuning pegs on the headstock to adjust the pitch of each string.
  • Tightening the string (turning the peg away from you) raises the pitch.
  • Loosening the string (turning the peg towards you) lowers the pitch.
  • Tune each string slowly and carefully to avoid breaking strings.

Basic Controls

Familiarize yourself with the main controls on the guitar and amplifier:

  • Guitar Pickup Selector Switch: This switch, typically located below the strings, selects which pickup(s) are active. Different positions offer different tonal characteristics.
  • Volume and Tone Knobs: The guitar has knobs to control the overall output volume and to adjust the high-frequency tone.
  • Amplifier Controls: The amplifier will have at least a volume control and may have additional tone controls (like bass and treble) and a gain control for distortion.

Playing and Maintenance

  • Wash your hands before playing to keep the strings and fretboard clean.
  • When not in use, store the guitar in the provided nylon case to protect it from dust and accidental damage.
  • Replace strings when they become corroded, lose their brightness, or break. The package includes an extra set of strings.
  • Wipe down the guitar body and strings with a soft, dry cloth after playing.

Troubleshooting

  • No sound from amplifier: Ensure the amplifier is plugged in and powered on. Check that the instrument cable is firmly connected to both the guitar and amp. Check the guitar's volume knob is turned up.
  • Buzzing or humming sound: This can be caused by interference from other electronics. Try moving away from computers, fluorescent lights, or routers. Ensure all cable connections are secure.
  • Strings go out of tune quickly: New strings stretch and require frequent tuning for the first few hours of play. Gently stretch each string by pulling it away from the fretboard and retune. Ensure the strings are properly wound around the tuning pegs.
  • Fret buzz (string rattling against frets): This may indicate the need for a guitar setup (neck relief and action adjustment). This is best performed by an experienced technician.
