GENERAL OPERATION Possible causes and/or recommended solutions
The temperature is too
high
New Installation - Allow 24 hours following installation for the refrigerator and the freezer to cool
completely.
NOTE: Adjusting the temperature control(s) to the coldest setting will not cool the compartment
(therefrigerator or the freezer) more quickly.
The doors are opened often or are not closed properly - this allows warm air to enter the
refrigerator. Reduce the number of times that you open the door, keep the doors properly closed and
make sure that both doors are fully closed.
The air vents are blocked - Remove any articles that are just in front of the air vents.
A large amount of warm food has been recently added - Allow several hours to elapse for the
refrigerator to return to normal temperature.
The temperature control(s) have not been set correctly for the surrounding conditions -
Adjust the controls to a colder setting. Check the temperature again in 24 hours.

The refrigerator’s top shelf is colder than the bottom ones - In some models, the freezer air
enters the refrigerator compartment through the air vents that are near the refrigerator’s top shelf.
Consequently, the top shelf may be slightly colder than the bottom shelves.
The air vents are blocked - Remove any articles that are just in front of the air vents.
Humidity has
accumulated on the
inside
NOTE: A certain degree of moisture build-up is normal. Wipe dry with a soft cloth.
The room is damp - A moist atmosphere contributes to the build-up of moisture. Use the refrigerator
only inside the home, with the minimum possible amount of moisture.
The doors are opened often or are not closed properly - This allows warm air to enter the
refrigerator. Reduce the number of times that you open the door, keep the doors properly closed and
make sure that both doors are fully closed.
The inside lights do not
work.
The doors have been left open for a long time - Close the doors to reset the lights.
There is a loose or burnt light - In models with inside incandescent lights, tighten the light or
replace it. See “Lights”.
NOTE: In models with LED lights, call to request help or technical service if the inside lights do not
come on when a door is opened. Consult the Warranty in the User Instructions or User Manual to get
the contact information.
The ice maker lights are
not working (in some
models)
The ice maker light has switched off - In some models, if the ice maker light has been set to Off, it
will only come on when the ice maker pad/lever is pressed. If you want the ice maker light to remain
permanently on, choose a different setting. See “Water and ice dispensers” in the Instructions for the
user or the user Manual.
The dispenser light has been set to Auto (automatic) or Night Light - In some models, if the
dispenser light has been set to Auto (automatic) or Night Light, make sure that the light sensor is not
blocked. See “Water and ice dispensers” in the Instructions for the user or the user Manual.
NOTE: In models with LED lights, call to request help or the technical service if the dispenser lights
do not work properly. Consult the Warranty in the User Instructions or User Manual to get the contact
information.
