Usespeciallyformulatedwindshieldwasherfluid
ratherthanplainwater,becausespecially
formulatedwasherfluidscontainadditivesthat
dissolveroadgrime.Forsafetyreasons,washer
fluidscontaininganappropriateantifreezesuchas
methanolshouldbeusedinfreezingweather
(temperaturesbelow32˚F[0˚C]).Stateorlocal
regulationsonVolatileOrganicCompounds(VOCs)
mayrestrictuseofthemostcommonantifreeze,
methanol.Washerfluidscontainingnon-methanol
antifreezeagentsshouldbeusedonlyifthey
providecoldweatherprotectionwithoutdamaging
thevehicle’spaintfinish,wiperblades,and
windshieldwashersystem.
