CAUTION : Failure to unplug the ice maker could result in electrical shock or personal injury
DRAINING YOUR ICE MAKER
Follow the steps below to drain the unit.
1. Carefully move the unit towards a sink or other suitable location
for draining
2. Remove the drain cap and rubber drain plug located at the left
side of the ice maker to access the drain.
NOTE: An additional rubber drain plug is included as a spare part.
3. Let the water drain from the drain plug.
4. Firmly install the rubber drain plug into the drain port.
WARNING: Do not tip the unit over while there is water in the
reservoir.
REMOVING THE INLET HOSE
To disconnect the inlet hose from the portable ice maker, push the
water inlet button while pulling the inlet hose at the same time.
CLEANING YOUR ICE MAKER
OUTSIDE
The outside of the ice maker should be cleaned regularly with a mild detergent solution, warm water and use a
soft cloth to wipe. Do not use rough cloth to avoid scratching or damaging the surface of the unit.
INTERIOR
The Whynter IMC-491DC ice maker is equipped with a Self-Clean program that ensures your ice is clean and
fresh by removing scales and impurities. This program works the same as the ice making process, only with-
out the freezing.
1. Unplug the unit.
2. Remove the ice basket.
3. Create a one part vinegar to 10 parts water solution and pour the solution into the water reservoir .
4. Plug the unit, press and hold the CLEAN button for 3 seconds. The unit will automatically enter the
self-clean program which will take about 5-6 minutes. During this process, the icon and will be dis-
played in LCD window, and the fan blade in the icon will always rotate. This process will rinse the inside
parts several times.
5. After self-clean program is complete, drain out the water by loosening the drain cap and unplugging the rub-
ber drain plug on the side. Install the rubber drain plug once the water reservoir is empty.
6. Unplug the unit, add fresh water into water reservoir up to water level mark.
7. Plug in the unit and initiate self-clean program again. Once the program completes, drain out the water.
8. Dry the interior and exterior with a soft and clean cloth.
9. Install the rubber drain plug and tighten the drain cap.
NOTE: When using the unit for the first time or an extended break from use, we suggest the cleaning
program to be performed first.
