Assembly
Insert Handle into vacuum base until you hear a “click”. |
Push Lower Cord Wrap in, aligning two tabs, then turn clockwise (down) to lock into place. |
Push hose end into vacuum base until you hear a “click”. |
Wrap the hose up and around, then slide end into vacuum base. |
Store TurboBrush® Tool on front in holder. Store Crevice Tool inside Extension Wand and store Extension Wand on side of vacuum. Store the Combination Dusting/ Upholstery Tool on opposite side. |
Operations
Installing the Febreze Filter
WARNING: Before using your vacuum, make sure that the Dirt Tank is in locked position and that the filter is in place. DO NOT operate your vacuum without the filter.
Press top of Dirt Tank to release it from the vacuum base. | To access the filter, twist the top of tank counterclockwise to unlock and reveal filter. | Replace standard yellow foam filter with Febreze black foam filter to freshen as you vacuum. |
NOTE: Your vacuum comes with a standard foam filter (yellow) located in the top of of the Dirt Tank. A separate Febreze foam filter (black) may also be packed in the box. Both are washable. Over time, the Febreze filter will begin to lose scent after use and washing.
Power ON & Settings
Bare Floor Setting - For bare floors or low pile carpet. High Carpet Setting - For high pile and most shag carpet. Turn the dial on the foot of the vacuum to desired setting. If dial is difficult to turn, tilt vacuum back. |
Press down once on the red ON/ OFF Pedal located on the lower back of the vacuum to turn ON. Press down again to turn OFF. |
Above Floor Cleaning
Pull hose up and out of vacuum base to attach your desired tool. | For extended reach, attach the Extension Wand to the hose first and then your desired tool. |
Emptying the Dirt Tank
WARNING: To reduce the risk of electrical shock, turn Power Switch OFF and disconnect polarized plug from electrical outlet before performing maintenance or troubleshooting checks.
Empty once tank is full. | Press the release button at the top of the Dirt Tank to remove it from the vacuum. | Hold Dirt Tank over a trash container and press lid release button to empty. Close lid and return tank to vacuum base. |
Maintenance & Care
Cleaning the Tank & Cyclone
Remove the Dirt Tank and twist its top counterclockwise to unlock and pull up to separate. |
Grab the top of the Cyclone assembly to remove. Clean with warm water and mild detergent. Wipe inside of tank with a damp cloth. Do not reassemble until completely dry |
Align tabs on Cyclone assembly with tank to replace. | Place the top back on the Dirt Tank by aligning the tab, then twist clockwise to lock. | Return the fully assembled tank to the vacuum base and press firmly until you hear a “click”. |
Cleaning the Filter
Press Tank Release Button and remove Dirt Tank. | To access filter, turn top of tank counter-clockwise and pull up to separate. | Remove foam filter. Hand wash in warm water; mild detergent may be used if desired. Rinse well and air dry thoroughly. Replace filter if necessary |
Make sure the filter is completely dry before placing it back into the tank top. | Return the tank’s top, aligning tabs and twisting clockwise to lock. | Return tank, pressing firmly until you hear a “click”. |
WARNING: Do not operate vacuum with damp or wet filters, as well as without filters or the Dirt Tank in place. Allow components to dry before reassembling the Dirt Tank.
Maintaining the Brush & Belt
In Step 1 and 5, you will need a Phillips-head screwdriver. |
Unplug vacuum, turn over and unscrew 5 silver Phillips-head screws and remove bottom cover. | Pull Brush Roll straight out and slide belt off. | Inspect Brush Roll by placing it on its end and spinning. It should spin freely, multiple times by one flick. If it doesn’t, replace Brush Roll. Inspect belt, replace if it appears damaged. |
Place belt back on motor gear. Pull belt over the Brush Roll and place back in. Position the Brush Roll end opposite of the belt to line up with tab. The end closest to the belt will slide in the tab without needing any rotation. | Reattach bottom replacing the 5 screws. Spin the brush by hand one revolution to self-center the belt. |
Troubleshooting
WARNING: To reduce the risk of electric shock, turn Power Switch OFF and disconnect plug from electrical outlet before performing maintenance or troubleshooting checks.

Brush Roll doesn’t rotate | Belt is broken or stretched. | Follow maintenance instructions on checking brush and belt |
Brush Roll has lodged debris or other entanglements, keeping the brush from rotating. | Check the Brush Roll and remove debris, also check the belt for any breaks or tears and replace if necessary. | |
Vacuum won’t pick up dirt | Filter is dirty. | Remove and rinse pre-motor filter, allowing enough time for them to dry completely before reinserting. |
The main hose is not connected. | Locate the hose and reconnect by pushing the hose connection to secure the latch and secure the other end of the hose into the vacuum base. | |
There is a crack or hole in the main hose. | If there is a crack or hole, order a new hose from BISSELL Website | |
Brush Roll is not turning. | Remove brush and clean brush & brush ends | |
There is a clog in the vacuum. | Check for debris build-up or clogs in the inner tank, hose and foot/lower hose; see online video for more help. | |
The Dirt Tank is not seated correctly. | Press the Tank Release Button to release the Dirt Tank and reseat properly. | |

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK OR INJURY:
- Do not leave vacuum cleaner when it is plugged in. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before servicing.
- Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces.
- Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children.
- Do not use for any purpose other than described in this user guide. Use only manufacturer’s recommended attachments.
- Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If appliance is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, have it repaired at an authorized service center.
- Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close a door on cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not run appliance over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.
- Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.
- Do not handle plug or vacuum cleaner with wet hands.
- Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep openings free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce airflow.
- Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts.
- Turn OFF all controls before plugging or unplugging vacuum cleaner.
- Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
- Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible materials (lighter fluid, gasoline, kerosene, etc.) or use in areas where they may be present.
- Do not use vacuum cleaner in an enclosed space filled with vapors given off by oil-based paint, paint thinner, some moth-proofing substances, flammable dust, or other explosive or toxic vapors.
- Do not use to pick up toxic material (chlorine bleach, ammonia, drain cleaner, etc.).
- Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches or hot ashes.
- Do not use without filters in place.
- Do not pick up hard or sharp objects such as glass, nails, screws, coins, etc.
- Use only on dry, indoor surfaces.
- Keep appliance on a level surface.
- Do not carry the vacuum cleaner while it is running.
- Unplug before connecting or disconnecting the TurboBrush® Tool.
