Frigidaire GLRT217TDK Questions and Answers

#1 Are the doors on my Top-Freezer refrigerator reversible?

For most Top-Freezer refrigerators, the direction in which your refrigerator doors open (door swing) can be reversed, from left to right or right to left. Door reversal instructions can be found in your Installation guide.

#2 What should I do if my Top-Freezer refrigerator is too cold or too warm in the refrigerator or freezer?

Here are some helpful tips if you are experiencing any of these conditions:
1. If the freezer is too cold but refrigerator is fine, set the freezer control to a warmer setting.
2. If the refrigerator is too cold but the freezer temperature is fine, set the refrigerator to a warmer setting. Note: Adjusting the refrigerator control changes temperatures in both the refrigerator and the freezer.
3. If the freezer is too warm but the refrigerator is fine, set the freezer control to a colder setting.
4. If the refrigerator is too warm but the freezer is fine, set the refrigerator control to a colder setting. Adjusting the refrigerator control changes temperatures in both the refrigerator and the freezer. Allow 24 hours for the temperature to stabilize after making any adjustments. To maintain temperatures, a fan circulates air in the refrigerator and freezer and therefore, it is important not to block air vents with food items. This could disrupt the air flow and cause temperature issues. For some models: Adjusting the refrigerator temperature control “0” turns off the compressor and prevents the refrigerator from cooling but does not disconnect the power to the light and electronics. To completely turn off your refrigerator, you must unplug it.

#3 How do I know which water filter I need for my refrigerator?

When it comes to your water filter, compatible isn’t comparable. Frigidaire Genuine filters offer 3 levels of carbon filtration that trap sediment, chemicals, and harmful impurities. Frigidaire filters are NSF certified, the gold standard in water filtration.
Compatible or look-alike filters aren’t guaranteed to offer the same water quality. It’s always important to use the same filter type that is currently in your refrigerator.

#4 How do I clean stainless steel?

For stainless steel models, we recommend using Frigidaire ReadyClean Stainless Steel cleaner. It provides streak-free shine, protective coating repels dust and dirt, and gently cleans tough stains. Wipe with the grain to prevent scratching. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions when using.

#5 What is the best setting for my crisper drawers?

Setting the humidity control on your crisper drawers is not hard but we often forget what the best setting is based on the food type. Here are some helpful tips:
1. Leafy vegetables keep best when stored with the humidity control set on HIGH, or in a drawer without a humidity control. This keeps incoming air to a minimum and maintains maximum moisture.
2. Non-leafy vegetables and fruits still in their skin should be stored with the humidity control set on LOW. It’s best to wash items and remove any excess water before placing in the crisper drawers.
3. Items with strong odors or high moisture content should be wrapped before storing.
4. If you have a refrigerator model with the Auto CrispSealTM Drawer, they are equipped with an auto humidity control on the side of each crisper under the humidity control cover. Good news – no settings needed!

#6 How can I avoid “freezing” in my crisper drawers?

If you are experiencing freezing in your crisper drawers, you may want to keep in mind that air from the freezer moving to the fresh food compartment through the damper could result in freezing temperatures in the crisper drawers if the unit has not be in use for an extended period of time.
Once the refrigerator is used more frequently, this issue should resolve itself. If not, slightly increase the humidity setting.
