If the temperature keeps adjusting itself, check the control panel- it may have malfunctioned. The key pad may also have issues. Open the A/C cover. Next, unplug the ribbon cable – from the keypad -then plug it back in a few times. It should stop malfunctioning if the problem is a result of a faulty connection. If not, the entire control panel may need to be replaced.

  • Unit still blows air but not cold. It has what I guess to be a code (E8) on the temp. setting. If you reset the switch on the power cord it will work again for about an hour. What does the E8 stand for?

  • User Non avatar #102234 Asia1 year ago

The E8 code indicates that the unit is in an overload situation. This can happen when the air is too hot/humid. Make sure that the air around the unit is below 90°F. It can also happen if there is a buildup of dirt or dust on the filter, at the air intakes and at the exhaust ports. You should be able to check the filter for dirt and dust yourself.
