There is a timer that counts backwards after the brew cycle is finished. During this time the hot plate keeps the coffee hot. I want to say that it counts back 120 minutes, but once it shuts off you can press the button as if to start the brew again, and it will keep the coffee hot plate on another 120 minutes.
