001 flashing
001 flashing means dry-fire, electrical power on with the tank not completely full of water.
- Turn off electrical power at breaker. Add water, open a hot water faucet to bleed all air until water flows without air bursts.
- Turn on electrical power at breaker.

031 means water leak.
- Turn off electrical power at the breaker, check all electrical connections, and wiring for damage.
- Check for plumbing leaks and correct accordingly.
- If tank is leaking, replace the unit.
- Turn on electrical power at breaker.
