Overview

The Apple AirPods 4 are wireless Bluetooth earbuds designed for everyday use with Apple devices. They feature a redesigned contour for improved comfort and stability, a shorter stem, and quick-press controls. The earbuds are powered by the Apple H2 chip, enabling Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking, improved sound quality, and Voice Isolation for calls.

The Charging Case (USB‑C) is more than 10 percent smaller by volume than the previous generation and provides additional battery life. Both the earbuds and the case are rated IP54 for dust, sweat, and water resistance.

Use Guide

Setting Up AirPods 4

1. Ensure your iPhone or iPad is running the latest iOS/iPadOS.
2. Open the Charging Case lid with the AirPods inside.
3. Hold the case near your device. A setup animation appears on the screen.
4. Tap Connect.
5. Follow the on‑screen instructions to complete setup, including enabling Personalized Spatial Audio if desired.

Wearing AirPods 4

• Insert the earbuds into your ears with the stem pointing downward.
• Adjust the angle for a secure and comfortable fit.
• The optical in-ear sensor automatically detects when you are wearing them.

Playing Audio

• Press once on the stem to play or pause.
• Press twice to skip forward.
• Press three times to skip back.
• Press and hold to activate Siri for voice commands.

Making and Answering Calls

• Press once to answer an incoming call.
• Press once to mute or unmute during a call.
• Press twice to end a call.
• Voice Isolation automatically improves call quality in noisy environments.

Using Siri Interactions

• When Siri asks a yes/no question (e.g., “Do you want to answer this call?”), simply nod your head for yes or shake your head for no.
• This works for incoming calls, text messages, notifications, and more.

Charging the Earbuds and Case

• Place the AirPods in the Charging Case to charge them.
• Charge the case using a USB‑C cable (sold separately), an Apple Watch charger, or a Qi‑certified wireless charger.
• The status light on the case shows the charging status.
• A 5‑minute charge in the case provides about 1 hour of listening time or 45 minutes of talk time.

Checking Battery Status

• Open the Charging Case lid near your iPhone or iPad – the battery status appears on the screen.
• Use the Batteries widget on your device.
• Ask Siri: “What’s my AirPods battery?”

Using Find My

• Open the Find My app on your Apple device.
• Select your AirPods 4 to see their location on a map.
• Play a sound on the Charging Case (the case has a built‑in speaker) to help locate it.

Resetting AirPods 4

1. Place the AirPods in the Charging Case and close the lid.
2. Wait 30 seconds, then open the lid.
3. On your iPhone/iPad, go to Settings > Bluetooth and tap the i next to your AirPods.
4. Tap Forget This Device.
5. With the lid open, press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds until the status light flashes amber, then white.
6. Reconnect as if setting up for the first time.
