Frigidaire FFHS2622MS Questions and Answers

#1 How can I avoid “freezing” in my crisper drawers?

If you are experiencing freezing in your crisper drawers, you may want to keep in mind that air from the freezer moving to the fresh food compartment through the damper could result in freezing temperatures in the crisper drawers if the unit has not be in use for an extended period of time.
Once the refrigerator is used more frequently, this issue should resolve itself. If not, slightly increase the humidity setting.
NOTE: Lower humidity conditions may result in freezing in your crisper drawers. Try adjusting the humidity control for more air flow. If you have any questions, please contact us.

#2 When do I need to change my air filter?

In general, you should change the air filter every six months (in
most models, the filter status light on your display will prompt
you to replace the filter). Replacing the air filter will ensure
optimal filtering of refrigerator odors.
You may want to adjust this time period depending on the types
and amounts of food you typically store in your refrigerator. To
order replacement filters, simply go to our Filter & Parts page.
Remember to order the same filter type that is currently in your
refrigerator.

#3 How often should I change my water filter?

In general, you should change your water filter every six months
to ensure the highest possible water quality.
On most models, the Water Filter Status on your display will
illuminate and prompt you when it’s time to replace the filter. If
your refrigerator has not been used for a period of time (during
moving for example), it is recommended to change the filter
before reinstalling the refrigerator.
To order replacement filters, simply go to our Filter & Parts
page. Remember to order the same filter type that is currently in
your refrigerator.

#4 How do I know which water filter I need for my refrigerator?

When it comes to your water filter, compatible isn’t comparable.
Frigidaire Genuine filters offer 3 levels of carbon filtration that
trap sediment, chemicals, and harmful impurities. Frigidaire
filters are NSF certified, the gold standard in water filtration.
Compatible or look-alike filters aren’t guaranteed to offer the
same water quality. It’s always important to use the same filter
type that is currently in your refrigerator.

#5 What does it mean to “Prime the Water Supply System” and why is
it important for my refrigerator?

If you just installed your refrigerator, it is connected to a water
supply so it can produce ice and dispenser water. However, air
can be trapped in the new plumbing lines which can result in 2
or 3 empty ice maker cycles. Furthermore, if the system is not
flushed, the first ice cubes may be discolored or have an odd
flavor. It will also prohibit the water to evenly flow initially from
the dispenser. To prime the water supply system, do the
following:

1. Begin filling the system by pressing and holding a drinking
glass or pitcher against the water dispenser paddle.
2. Keep the glass or pitcher in this position until the water
comes out of the dispenser. It may take about 1-2 minutes.
3. Continue dispensing water for several minutes to flush the
system and plumbing connections of any impurities.
4. Discard the water and repeat this process a few more times.
If you have any questions, please contact us.

#7 How do I use the features and functions on my Side-by-Side
refrigerator display?

Depending on your model, there are various features and
functions available on your Side-by-Side refrigerator. It is always
recommended to check out your Owner’s Manual for more
descriptions of these features.
Press OPTIONS to illuminate the center of your display – this
will show you the available features and functions.
Use the UP or DOWN key to scroll through the menu that
appears in the center of your display.
To change a setting to ON or OFF, press the +; then press SET to
select. When selection is made, go back and press OPTIONS to
save.

#8 What is the best setting for my crisper drawers?

Setting the humidity control on your crisper drawers is not hard
but we often forget what the best setting is based on the food
type. Here are some helpful tips:

1. Leafy vegetables keep best when stored with the humidity
control set on HIGH, or in a drawer without a humidity control.
This keeps incoming air to a minimum and maintains maximum
moisture.
2. Non-leafy vegetables and fruits still in their skin should be
stored with the humidity control set on LOW. It’s best to wash
items and remove any excess water before placing in the
crisper drawers.
3. Items with strong odors or high moisture content should be
wrapped before storing.
4. If you have a refrigerator model with the Auto CrispSealTM
Drawer, they are equipped with an auto humidity control on the
side of each crisper under the humidity control cover. Good
news – no settings needed!
