Never place the appliance on or near hot or slippery surfaces; never leave the cord hanging
over a heat source (hotplates, gas stove, etc.).
Make sure that the electric power supply is compatible with the power rating and voltage indi-
cated on the bottom of the appliance.
Always plug the appliance into an earthed socket.
If the power supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service
agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
If need be, make sure to choose an extension lead of equivalent diameter with an earthed
socket; take all necessary precautions to prevent anyone tripping over an extension cord.
This appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-
control system.
Do not place cooking utensils on the cooking surfaces of the appliance.
Always use a wooden or plastic spatula to avoid damaging the cooking plate.
Never cut food directly on the plates.
To prevent damage to the plates, only use them on the appliance for which they were designed
(e.g., do not place in an oven, on the gas ring or electric hot-plate, etc.).
Do not place the hot plate under water or on a fragile surface.
Connect the cord into the wall socket : the red light comes on.
Allow the appliance to pre-heat : the green light comes on when the correct cooking temperature
is reached.
On first use, there may be a slight odour and a little smoke during the first few minutes.
In these cases open the window an wait until there is no more smoke or odour.
Cooking
Place the toasted sandwiches on the toasted sandwich plate.
Close the appliance and tighten the handles progressively to firmly seal the slices of bread.
Leave to cook for 3 to 4 minutes depending on your taste.
During use it is normal for the green light to go on and off.
Do not touch the hot surfaces of the appliance : use the handles.
Never use metal scourers or scouring powders to avoid damaging the cooking surface (e.g.: non-
stick coating, ...).
Cleaning
Unplug the cord form the mains socket. Let the appliance cool down.
Check that the appliance is unplugged before cleaning.
Leave the appliance to cool in an open position at least 2 hours.
Clean the plates and the body of the appliance with a sponge, hot water and washing up liq-
uid.
Do not use scouring pads or hard abrasive powder.
Never immerse the appliance or the power cord in water. They are not dishwasher safe.
The appliance and the power cord cannot go into the dishwasher.
