OPTION BUTTONS
Use these buttons to activate additional wash options
or additional features on the washer. Not all options are
available on all models or all cycles. See the “Cycle Guide”
for information on which cycles include which options.
Optimal Dispense – Detergent Concentration
and Water Hardness
These buttons are used to set detergent concentration
(2x–6x) and to set water hardness level (normal, hard,
or soft).
Extra Rinse
Activate this option to add an extra rinse to most cycles.
NOTE: Some cycles include this feature as a default.
See “Cycle Guide” for details.
Cycle Signal
Use this option to adjust volume of the signal that sounds
at end of cycle.
NOTE: You may also use this option to turn off the tones
that sound when a button is pressed. Press and hold
the CYCLE SIGNAL button for about one second to
turn button sounds on or off.
Control Lock
Press and hold for 3 seconds to lock the controls
to avoid unwanted changes or operation. Press and
hold 3 seconds again to unlock. The indicator will light
to show when controls are locked. You may still press
START/PAUSE to pause the cycle, or press the POWER/
CANCEL button to turn the washer off.
DRUM LIGHT
Press and hold STEAM FOR STAINS to turn the LED drum
light on or off. The light will also turn on when the door is
open, and turn off automatically after about 5 minutes.
At end of cycle, the light will turn off after one hour.
STEAM FOR STAINS
The Steam for Stains option adds additional soak and
wash time to many cycles to help remove tough stains.
An integrated heater helps to maintain optimal wash
temperatures. Steam for Stains includes a Steam boost for
added cleaning power. See the “Cycle Guide” for cycles that
allow the Steam for Stains option.
FRESH HOLD
®
OPTION
With the washer on, press to activate the Fresh Hold
®
option. This will periodically tumble the load after the end
of the cycle for up to 16 hours while the integrated fan
circulates air through the washer to reduce humidity. You
may also activate the Fresh Hold
®
option without running a
cycle by pressing and holding for 3 seconds, then pressing
START/PAUSE.
NOTES:
The door will lock while the Fresh Hold
®
option is active.
Press the POWER/CANCEL button to stop the cycle and
unlock the door.
Fresh Hold
®
option is not available if the spin speed is set
to No Spin.
OPTIMAL DISPENSE DRAWER
The Optimal Dispense drawer gives you the convenience of
automatically adding HE detergent, liquid chlorine bleach,
and fabric softener to the wash load at the proper time.
See “Using the Dispenser” for information on using the

Additional Features
POWERSPRAY
Powerspray uses a special spray nozzle just inside the door.
This spray nozzle adds water to the load at the beginning of the
cycle as well as at different times during the cycle.
When using the Optimal Dispense cartridge, the Powerspray
nozzle is used to add water and detergent to the load. If you
are using the powdered HE detergent compartment, water
and detergent are added through the regular water inlets;
the Powerspray nozzle is not used.
Optimal Dispense Cartridge
Each dispenser cartridge holds up to 18.5 oz.
(550 ml) of liquid HE detergent, enough for up to 36
loads, depending on cycle and detergent concentration.
The cartridge ts into compartment (B) of the dispenser
drawer for convenient loading.
n
Change detergent concentration setting
if detergent used is different than factory
preset of 2x concentration. See “About
Detergent Concentration.”
n
Change water hardness setting if desired
level is different than factory preset of
Normal.
Powdered High Efciency “HE” detergent
compartment
This compartment holds powdered HE detergent
for a single load.
Liquid fabric softener compartment
Automatically dilutes and dispenses liquid fabric
softener at the optimum time in the cycle.
n
Use only liquid fabric softener in this dispenser.
Liquid chlorine bleach compartment
Automatically dilutes and dispenses liquid chlorine
bleach at the optimum time during the rst rinse
after the wash cycle. This compartment cannot dilute
powdered bleach.

Choosing the Right Detergent
Use only High Efciency detergents. The package will be
marked “HE” or “High Efciency.” Low-water washing creates
excessive sudsing with a non-HE detergent. Using non-HE
detergent will likely result in longer cycle times and reduced
rinsing performance. It may also result in component failure and,
over time, build-up of mold or mildew. HE detergents are made
to produce the right amount of suds for the best performance.
Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to determine the amount
of detergent to use.
Use only High Efciency (HE) detergent.
The number of loads will vary, depending on detergent concentration,
load size, cycle used, and soil level. The maximum capacity of up to
36 loads requires use of 6x concentration detergent.
