Testing your dinnerware or cookware
Test dinnerware or coolevare before using.To test a dish for safe use, put itinto the oven with a cup of
water beside it. Cook at 100% cook power for one minute.If the dish gets hot, do not use it.
Some dishes (melamine,some ceramicdinnerware, etc.)absorb microwave energy, becoming too hotto
handle and slowing cooking times. Cooking in metal containers not designed formicrowave usecould damage
the oven, as could containerswith hidden metal (twist-ties,foil lining,staples, metallicglaze or trim).
Operating safety precautions
Never lean on the door or allow a child toswing on itwhen the door is open.
Use hot pads. Microwave energy does not heatcontainers, but the heat from the food can make the
container hot.
Do not use newspaper or other printed paper in theoven.
Do not dry flowers, fruit,herbs, wood, paper, gourds, or clothes in the oven.
Do not start a microwave oven when itis empty. Product lifemay be shortened. If you practiceprogramming
the oven, put a container ofwater inthe oven. It is normalfor the oven door to lookwavy after theoven has
been running fora while.
Do not try to melt paraffinwax in the oven. Paraffinwax will not melt in a microwave oven because itallows
microwavesto pass through it.
Do not operate the microwave oven unless the glass turntable is securely in place and can rotate freely.The
turntable can rotate in either direction. Makesure theturntable iscorrect-side up in theoven. Handle your
turntable with care when removing itfrom the oven to avoid possiblybreaking it. If your turntable cracks or
breaks,contact your dealer for a replacement.
When you use a browning dish, the browning dish bottom must beat least3/16 inch above theturntable.
Follow thedirections suppliedwith the browningdish.
Never cook or reheat a whole egg inside the shell. Steam buildup inwhole eggs may cause them to burst,
and possiblydamage the oven. Slice hard-boiled eggs before heating. Inrare cases, poached eggs have
been known to explode. Cover poached eggs andallow a standing time of one minute beforecutting into
them.
For best results, stir any liquid several times during heating or reheating. Liquidsheated in certain
containers (especiallycontainers shaped likecylinders) may become overheated.The liquid may splash out
with a loud noise during or after heatingor when adding ingredients (coffee granules,tea bags, etc.).This can
harmthe oven.
Microwaves maynot reach the centerof a roast.The heatspreads tothe center from the outer, cooked
areasjust as in regular oven cooking. This isone of the reasons for letting some foods (forexample, roastsor
bakedpotatoes) standfor awhile aftercooking,or for stirringsome foods during the cooking time.
Do not deep fry in the oven. Microwavable utensilsare not suitable and it isdifficult to maintain appropriate
deep-frying temperatures.
Do not overcook potatoes. Atthe end ofthe recommended cooking time, potatoesshould be slightly firm
because they will continue cooking during standing time. After microwaving, let potatoesstand for 5
minutes.They will finish cooking while standing.
Electrical connection
I If your electric power line or outletvoltage isloss than 110 volts, cooking times may be longer. Have a
qualified electrician check your electrical system.
