#1 Is the firmware current?

It's not significant how current the firmware is. When you
connect and activate the cable modem with your ISP, they
will automatically flash it with the latest firmware and
probably some customizations of their own. Firmware
update should only take about 1-2 minutes.

#2 Does this work well with time warner Cable?

I have Time Warner Cable and it works great for me. If you go
to their website they have a link for their "approved" equipment
list.

#3 I asume this modem does not come with the necessary coaxial
cable to connect to the cable input, or is it included in the
packaging?

No, it doesn’t come with the modem. You have to purchase it
separately.

#4 Do you need a wireless router for this?

If you don't need to use wireless devices, you don't need a
wireless router.

#5 Does this have a power button? How do I turn it off?

This modem does not have a physical power button. You could
always unplug it to turn it off.
