Philips 42PFL5603D/27 Questions and Answers

#1 Do I need a special Philips antenna to receive digital terrestrial TV broadcastings? And what kind of antenna should I use?

Digital terrestrial television uses a normal antenna technique. Depending on the condition of your antenna and local circumstances, you may not need to install a special antenna.

When you connect an antenna, please pay attention to the following:

Several transmitters simultaneously send the same signal over the same frequency channel; a more directional sensitive antenna is preferred
Gutter antennas are less powerful and therefore the signal that they transmit may be weaker
The use of a non-directional antenna could result in bad reception because of interference from other antennas in its vicinity
Gutter antennas are also marketed as digital antennas

What if I do have a cable or satellite box?
Unless you also have a separate antenna connection that you wish to connect to the TV and not to the settop box, you will actually be using the tuner in the settop box and not the TV to tune your channels. Simply tune the TV to the input you have connected the settop box to (HDMI 1,2,3 etc) and then use the settop box remote to change channels while leaving the TV tuned to the correct input.
