The washer does not feature a removable filter. We have made use of several washer lint filtering systems over the years. On 2001 and newer models, the fine mesh filters were removed from under the agitator when it was found that a better pump and larger holes in the hub under the agitator did a better job of removing lint and preventing clogs in the drain system. The drain system allows water to flow through the basket and out the bottom of the tub pulling lint, hair, and small particles with the water. There is no maintenance required on this system.

Model WHDSR209DWW does not feature a fabric softener dispenser. Mix the recommended amount of fabric softener (see bottle for amounts) with one cup water and add it at the start of the rinse cycle, or follow the fabric softener manufactures recommendations for use. Use fabric softener carefully. Too much may cause staining on some clothes. Do not pour directly on clothes and always dilute fabric softener.
