#1 Does it block the second outlet? is it noisy?

It does block the second outlet if you plug it into the top outlet. If you plug it into the bottom outlet it doesn't. Its not noisy at all.

#2 Can you use this timer to turn on a space heater at certain time of day?

Yes. As long as the heating device can be left in the on position at all times.

#3 What side of the unit is the outlet on (i.e. when facing the unit, do I plug my lamp on the right or left side of the timer)?

If your wall outlet has the ground (round hole)on the bottom, it would be the right side .

#4 Does this timer tick? Can you hear it?

Doesn't tick. In fact, for me it just didn't work. Gave it one star and threw it in the trash after a few says.

#5 Can I turn on lamp on my own if it is not set for that time?

There is a bypass switch on the unit, so you can turn off the timer function without having to change the settings. Then you can turn the lamp on and off using the lamp's switch.

#6 What is the minimum off time?

It's 30 minutes. There are 48 pins that turn it on and off. Each corresponds to a 30 minute block of time.
