There are only 2 parts to it: the steamer head and the container. You twist it open (to pour water in) and you have access to the inside. You can use a paper towel to wipe out the last drops of water after emptying it. However, I believe if you only used filtered water there is no actual need to clean it, besides drying it.

Yes I used it for this purposes to clean curtains.
