GE - General Electric JVM1190WY Questions and Answers

#1 My microwave works fine but the fan and light stopped working. Is there something I can reset or do? Thanks

You can try unplugging or shutting off the circuit breaker to the unit for a minute or two in an effort to reset the microwave. After a minute or two, restore power and see if it resets and operates correctly. If not, service may be needed.

#2 Our jvm1190wy suddenly stopped working - no display, buttons don't work and it won't cook. Is it worth it to try to repair or should we just replace

If your microwave is not working properly, we recommend resetting the electronics. To do this, simply unplug the microwave or turn off house circuit breaker to the microwave outlet for about five minutes.

If this does not help, we recommend either replacing your microwave or having a microwave-certified service person repair your microwave. For safety reasons, GE offers no do-it-yourself repair advice on microwave ovens due to:

*Safety requirements due to high voltage (capacitor holds a high voltage charge even after it has been unplugged).
*Complexity of electronic circuitry.
*Special equipment needed to make diagnosis.

GE urges our consumers not to attempt any microwave repairs.

With a unit of this age, it may be better to replace your microwave rather than repair it. Please see our current microwaves listed on our website at www.geappliances.com.
