TIPS
Use a cutting board that lays flat on a steady surface. Ensure that the cutting board
is secured with grips, or secure it by placing a damp paper towel or dish towel
underneath it.
A grooved cutting board is ideal for juicy foods such as meat.
For best results, let the knife do the work. Do not apply a lot of pressure when using. Do
not use a sawing, back and forth motion.
Allow meats to rest at least 10 minutes after cooking and before slicing. This will help the
meat retain its juices and flavor.
For tough cuts of meat, like flank steak or brisket, slice against the grain.
When slicing meat near the bone, cut almost to the bone and then use your hands to
separate the remaining meat from the bone. Do not attempt to cut through the bone.
In addition to slicing various types of meat, such as large roasts, turkey, chicken, ham and
steak, the Electric Knife may also be used to slice fruits, such as small to medium sized
melons and pineapple; vegetables, such as tomatoes and eggplant; and soft to medium-
hard cheeses, such as fresh mozzarella and cheddar.
When slicing hard items, such as a small watermelon, more pressure may be required.
Always use the carving knife when slicing. It is especially important to use it when
slicing small pieces of food or the ends of food. It is also important to use it when slicing
slippery items such as watermelon or peeled pineapple.
Do not use to cut frozen food.
Never place your fingers close to the blade when slicing. Always use the carving fork,
especially when a small piece is left to slice.
To prolong the life of your knife, as with all knives, wash by hand. High dishwasher
temperatures and detergents may dull the blade over time.
Do not attempt to sharpen blades. Replacement blades may be purchased. Call customer
service for more information.
