How to Use the Multi-Cooker

Electrical Shock Hazard: Cook only in removable cooking pot. Never place water or food directly into the base.

Burn Hazard: Never use lid handle to carry cooker when contents are hot. Steam from steam vent can cause injury

BEFORE FIRST USE

Wash cooking pot following “Care and Cleaning” instructions; dry thoroughly. Assemble lid with flat side of silicone washer facing down toward cooking pot.

Cooking rice

Rice Measuring Cup – Do not throw away the rice measuring cup that comes with your unit. This is an important tool in using your Multi-Cooker successfully as a rice cooker and its size is standard in the rice industry. One rice measuring cup equals 6 oz. (177 mL) or approximately cup (U.S. standard measuring cup).

Steamer/Rinsing Basket – To use as a rice rinsing basket, add the desired amount of measured uncooked rice to steamer basket. Do not fill above side vents to prevent rice from falling through while rinsing. Place basket under a slow-flowing faucet and rinse. Add drained rice to cooking pot. Repeat rinsing with any remaining rice.

If using Multi-Cooker to cook rice, cereal, or grain:

  • 1. Add desired amount of uncooked rice to cooking pot; then fill with water to corresponding water line.

Example: If you add 4 level measuring cups of rice to the cooking pot, add water to the “4” line of the pot. DO NOT exceed 10-cup MAX.

  • 2. Place cooking pot straight down on base. Make sure cooking pot is securely placed into base.

NOTE: Make sure bottom of cooking pot is not bent or warped, or it will not conduct heat correctly.

  • 3. Plug into outlet. Press to turn on MultiCooker.
  • 4. All function buttons will flash. Press desired function button. Selected function and time will flash. MultiCooker will start to heat automatically after 5 seconds.
  • 5. At the end of the cooking time, the Multi-Cooker will automatically switch to WARM. Multi-Cooker will keep warm up to 12 hours, then sound an alarm and switch to standby mode.

Program functions

Five functions have preprogrammed cycles with a default cooking time that cannot be adjusted. Actual cooking time depends on the amounts of ingredients and water. If the actual cooking time is less than the default time, the display time will jump to a time designated by the program and start counting down until finished cooking. If actual cooking time is longer than the default, the program holds for a time and then counts down until finished cooking. The Multi-Cooker automatically switches to WARM when done cooking and will keep warm up to 12 hours.

FUNCTION DEFAULT -- COOKING TIME

WHITE RICE -- 45 minutes

WHOLE GRAIN -- 60 minutes

SUSHI RICE -- 40 minutes

BROWN RICE -- 60 minutes

QUICK RICE -- 35 minutes

Time functions

Eight functions can be adjusted to the time you desire. After selecting function, press and hold the function button to start time. The display will show ON until the cooking temperature is reached, then the timer will count down. The cooker automatically switches to WARM when done cooking and will keep warm up to 12 hours.

FUNCTION -- TIME RANGE

  • HOT CEREALS -- 5 minutes-3 hours; timer countdown begins when water boils.
  • QUINOA -- 5 minutes-3 hours; timer countdown begins when water boils.
  • SAUTÉ -- 0-30 minutes; timer countdown begins when cooking temperature reaches 300°F (150°C).
  • SEAR/BROWN -- 0-30 minutes; timer countdown begins when cooking temperature reaches 400°F (205°C).
  • STEAM/COOK -- 0-30 minutes; timer countdown begins when water boils.
  • SOUP/SIMMER -- 5 minutes-5 hours; timer countdown begins when cooking temperature reaches 195°F (90°C). Temperature is held at 185-203°F (85-95°C) during cooking. Stir occasionally.
  • SLOW COOK LOW -- 1-10 hours; timer countdown starts immediately. Automatically switches to
  • WARM -- for a total cooking and warm time of 24 hours. For example, if slow cook time is 6 hours, WARM time is 18 hours (24 hours minus 6 hours).
  • SLOW COOK HIGH -- Same as SLOW COOK LOW.

NOTE*: If pot boils dry, Multi-Cooker will beep and the remaining time will flash in display. To continue STEAM/COOK, add more wate within 3 minutes. If no water is added after 3 minutes, the display will flash “Er” until the ON/OFF button is pressed.

*While slow cooking, the condensation collector may need to be emptied after each time you open the lid to prevent overflow.

Warm

The WARM function should be used for already-cooked food. Do not cook on WARM. Timer will count up to display the total amount of time on WARM.

Delay time

The Delay Time function can be used with WHITE RICE, BROWN RICE, SUSHI RICE, WHOLE GRAIN, QUICK RICE, HOT CEREALS, QUINOA, STEAM/COOK, and SOUP/SIMMER. Place water and food items in cooking pot or food in steamer basket. Select function and cooking time.

Press DELAY TIME. The function button and the DELAY TIME buttons will flash, and display will flash “0.” Continue to press DELAY TIME to set delay time from 1 to 15 hours. Multi-Cooker will automatically start after 5 seconds, counting down the delay time. Cooking/steaming will begin once the unit has completed the delay time countdown. After cooking is complete, the Multi-Cooker will switch to WARM (except for STEAM/COOK).

Memory Save

If the power is cut off and restarts within 5 seconds, the Multi-Cooker will remember the initial cooking status and continue the previous function automatically. If the power break was longer than 5 seconds, the unit will switch to standby mode.

Care and Cleaning

Electrical Shock Hazard: Do not immerse base, cord, or plug in water or other liquid.

  1. Unplug Multi-Cooker.
  2. Lid Liner and Condensation Collector are handwashable. Both Lid Liner and Condensation Collector should be removed and cleaned after each use.
  3. Cooking Pot, Steamer/Rinsing Basket, Rice Measuring Cup, and Rice Paddle are dishwasher-safe. DO NOT use the “SANI” setting when washing in the dishwasher. “SANI” cycle temperatures could damage your product.
  4. Wipe base with a soft, damp cloth or sponge. To remove stubborn spots, use a mild, nonabrasive cleanser.
