Philips GC9241/02 Questions and Answers

#1 Why does the steam output get weaker? What should I do?

There are two possible scenarios that you may observe temporary slight dip in steam. These are normal.

1. When the appliance draws water from the tank, the cool water lowers the steam pressure temporarily.

2. When the trigger is continuously activated for a long time.

If the steam dip is persistent, it could be due to scale accumulation in your appliance. Please de-scale your iron and base after letting the appliance cools down completely, around 2 hours.

#2 How much constant Steam?

After a few seconds of warming up, steam is constant, just remember to fill the reservoir when it is empty, although it lasts very well. This is the best iron we have ever owned, it is so easy to use, even for arthritic hands.

#3 Does this steam generator have an auto shut off? Strangely I do not want this function.

According to Philips Customer Care, this particular iron does have automatic shut off function. However, it will automatically shut off after 10 minutes of no motion. Once you start moving it again, it will automatically on but needs a little time to reheated. Hope that helps.

#4 How can I clean the soleplate of my Philips Steam Iron?

When the soleplate of your Philips Iron or Steam Generator is stained or has fabric stuck to it, find out how to simply clean it below.

Instructions to clean the soleplate of your Philips Iron
If you want to clean the soleplate of your Philips Iron, please use the cleaning stick GC012 and follow the cleaning instructions below:

Set the iron’s temperature to between “1 dot” and “2 dots” (if your iron belongs to the PerfectCare range, you can skip this step)
Unplug the iron and place it on its heel with a piece of cotton cloth underneath
Apply the cleaning stick to the dirty area once or twice
Wipe the dirty area and liquid from the soleplate with the piece of cotton cloth
Clean off the remaining wax in the steam vents with a cotton bud and by steam ironing over the rag cloth
Note:

The soleplate is hot. Please do not touch it with your bare hands. During cleaning, some fumes will be emitted from the melted cleaning stick material. Do not ingest the cleaning stick. Keep the cleaning stick away from children.

#5 What type of water can I use in my Philips steam iron or steamer?

Using the right type of water helps prolong your Philips garment steamer or steam iron's lifespan. Please read on to learn some tips and tricks.

Water type to use
Your Philips steam iron or garment steamer has been designed to be used with tap water. However, if you live in an area with hard water, fast scale build-up may occur.

Therefore, to prolong the lifespan of your iron or steamer it is recommended to use distilled or demineralised water (50% demineralised water mixed with tap water could be used too).

Please do not use perfumed water, water from the tumble dryer, vinegar, starch, descaling agents, ironing aids, chemically descaled water or other chemicals as they may cause water spitting, brown staining or damage to your steam iron.

To perfume your clothes we recommend you choosing one of the following options:

• Using perfumed washing softener
• Using essential oils (aromas) during washing
• Spraying perfumed water after ironing
