the majority of the unit is made from plastic but there are metal components (e.g., drip tray cover, push-down lever where you insert the k-cups, and some of the "stainless steel" covering might be either metallic or colored plastic. It's a great unit and looks really nice. Hope this helps!

I highly recommend avoiding using tap water in any one cup coffee maker. It will clog the machine over time. Vinegar never works in any one cup coffee maker. I have used it for the keurig’s and other one cup coffee makers. It will not unclog the machine. The best way to keep it running smoothly is using filtered water always. The carbon filters can only get a small portion of the junk out of tap water. The chlorine and lead will eventually ruin the coffee maker.
