Locking and unlocking the Floating Top Housing
The Floating Top Housing must be unlocked ( ) before using
the Panini Maker otherwise the lid cannot be opened. The
weight of the top cooking plate will gradually press down on
food during cooking, unless you have moved the Floating Top
Housing to the adjusted height level. (See Figure 1).
When storing or transporting the Panini Maker, the Floating Top
Housing must be locked ( ). NOTE: Do not use the Storage Lock
when food item is in Panini Maker or pre-heating. You must not
use the lock to clamp down the top plate when the sandwiches
are in your Panini Maker or for pre-heating.
Using the Adjustable Food Height Lever
You can adjust the Food Height
Lever of your Panini Maker/ Indoor
Grill to move the Top Housing. This
lets you place food on the bottom
cooking plate (open sandwiches,
bacon, eggs, etc.) and the top
cooking plate will not come into
contact with the food during
cooking. (See Figure 1)
To Use as a Contact Grill
Use the Panini Maker/Indoor Grill as a contact grill to cook
burgers, boneless pieces of meat and thin cuts of meat and
vegetables.
Set the Panini/Grill Temperature Control to your desired
setting. At rst, try a setting near the “Max” setting. You may
later adjust cooking temperature lower or higher according
to your preference.
Prepare the burgers, boneless pieces of meat and thin cuts
of meat or other foods as directed and place it onto the
bottom cooking plate.
Close the top cooking plate which has a oating Top
Housing that is designed to evenly press down on the food.
The top cooking plate must be fully lowered onto food to
achieve Grill marks.
If you are cooking thicker cuts of meat and vegetables, use
the Adjustable Food Height Lever to move the top cooking
plate to the adjusted height level.
o First open the lid to 45 degrees, and then slide the
Adjustable Food Height Lever to the adjusted food height
position ( ) and gently lower the lid.
o You must open the lid rst before sliding the Adjustable
Food Height Lever into the adjusted food height position.
Place Drip Cups near the front edge of the cooking plate.
When the food is cooked use the handle to open the lid.
Remove the food with the help of a heat-resistant plastic or
wooden spatula. NOTE: Metal utensils are not recommended
to be used as it could scratch coating surface.
NOTE: The ribs on the grill plates combined with the grease
spout at the corner of the plate allow the grease to drip from
the meat and drain o the plates.
Cooking with less fat
If you want to cook with less
fat, you can get rid of the
excess cooking fat by using the
slanted feet at the back of the
appliance. Simply grasp the
foot extenders located on the 2
back legs of the unit and pivot
them out toward the back of
unit. This will provide the
contact Grill with a slope that will help channel the extra fat
near the front edge of the cooking plate, and towards the
fat collecting drip cup. (See Figure 2)
To Use as a Panini Press
Use the Panini/Grill as a Panini Press to grill sandwiches, breads
and quesadillas.
Set the Panini/Grill Temperature Control to your desired
setting. At rst, try medium setting (temperature setting
