If You Have a Flat Tire
Taking Care of the Unexpected
Installation Tighten the rear axle nut to the
specified torque:
After installing the wheel, apply the
brake several times. Check for free
wheel rotation after the brake is
released. Recheck the wheel if the brake
drags or the wheel does not rotate freely.
If a torque wrench was not used for
installation, see your Honda dealer as soon
as possible to verify proper assembly.
Improper assembly may lead to loss of
braking capability.
Used cotter pins may not effectively
secure fasteners. Always replace used
cotter pins with new ones.
Adjust the drive chain (page ) and
rear brake pedal freeplay (page ).
Connect the brake rod to the brake arm.
Reassemble the brake stopper arm.
Tighten the stopper arm nut to the
specified torque:
Insert the rear axle shaft from the left
side, through the left swingarm, wheel
hub and brake panel.
Place the rear wheel into the swingarm
and install the drive chain over the rear
sprocket.
Apply multi-purpose grease to the side
collars inside and wheel side sleeve and
install the side collars into the rear
wheel.
