Whynter FM-85G Questions and Answers

#1 Will it hold up on an offshore saltwater deep sea fishing trip? How many trips can I get out of it before it's trashed? Can the lid be stood/sat on?

Yes I believe it will hold up well if in a semi protected area. It can be sat on no problem. Had mine on a sailboat for over a year as a freezer, no problems.

#2 Will it damage the compressor if used in an unheated shed in winter? Do I need to keep the shed from freezing to protect it like most compressor frid

I don't think you would have to. It's not a typical compressor. No fluid to worry about. I have stored mine(not running) in my shed and haven't had any issues.

#3 How do i return item?

Most items have return instructions, if no juswt look at your orders online and there will be instructions

#4 Is the compressor itself ac or dc powered? looking for most efficient power source to use.

The unit can be plugged in with both AC power and the DC power at the same time. If both AC and DC are plugged in at the same time, then the unit will primarily operate on AC. If the AC power source fails, DC will become primary source of power supply.

#5 Can I put it in the passanger seat and be able to drive? using the passenger mirror?

The unit is wider than most front seats so I would say no. I have it in the back of a 4 door Jeep Wrangler and have no problem seeing out the back.
