Bosch PCP6A5B90 Questions and Answers

#1 I like the look of this hob but I’m concerned about the poor reviews I’m reading here relating to the cast iron pot stands eroding and scratch marks appearing on the stainless steel. Have improvements been made to the manufacture?

We would advise that the steel and pan supports are made to a high quality and as long as the appliance is looked after there should be no issue with the pan supports enamel being scraped off by pans or scratches on the hob.

#2 I have this model purchased recently How many clamping screws are required to fix this hob to a worktop? Does it require a seal between the hob and worktop?

This comes with a fixing pack with all the screws and brackets required. There is also an adhesive strip supplied to apply underneath the hob.

#3 How safe is this hob with children, does it have a safety mechanism to stop children turning the gas on?

This model does not have a main switch which cuts the gas supply off. Press the control knob for the selected burner and turn it anticlockwise to the highest power level. While the control knob is held down, all the burners will generate sparks. The flame ignites.

#4 We want to install this hob above HBA5770SOB with 20mm worktops whereas your drawing it says min 30mm due to space requirements of the oven. So if the oven furniture filler panel is placed above rather than below oven that 20mm top is OK?

We would recommend following the installation instructions for both the hob and oven. We are unable to look further into this for you at this time as the model given for the oven is incorrect.

#5 Is this hob fitted with butane gas jets ?

This can be used with LPG jets, however they do not come already attached.

#6 I have 650 mm clearance between the worktop with my existing gas hob and extractor hood, is this sufficient for this hob as mine is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Generally 650 mm is normally recommend for a gas hob however we would ask you to double check the installation with the hood you already have installed.
