GE - General Electric JGB750SEF1SS Questions and Answers

#1 While baking today at 375 there was a burning smell. Opened oven door and the broiler element was on. Is this normal for the upper broiler element to come on while baking? I turned off the oven and started the bake all over again and the broiler went off

This range uses heat primarily from the lower burner during Bake, but it will also use heat from the upper burner to cook food. The upper element will periodically cycle off and on during the baking mode to help brown the top of the food.

We hope this helps!

#2 We can't get the timer to start when using a burner on the cooktop. We start timer, select a time on the number pad, then hit start -- but nothing happens. Please help!

I'm sorry you're having an issue with the Timer feature. The Timer should work regardless of whether you are using a burner or not. If the Timer works when you're not using a burner, then we recommend service.

If the Timer doesn't work regardless of what cooking function you are using, make sure you are setting it properly. Press Timer, enter the time in hours and minutes, and press Start. If you need 10 minutes, press Timer, 1,0 and Start. If you need 90 minutes, set 1 hr and 30 min by pressing Timer, 1,3,0 and Start.
