Lighng Instrucons
WARNING! If you do not follow these instrucons exactly a re or explosion may result causing
property damage, personal injury or loss of life.
WARNING! Keep face and body away from burner area when lighng.
Upon compleng the gas line connecon, a small amount of air will be in the lines. When rst lighng the
burner, it will take a few seconds for the lines to purge themselves of this air.
Once the purging is complete, the burner will light and operate as indicated in the instrucon manual.
Subsequent lighng of the appliance will not require such purging unless the gas supply has been
disconnected.
1. Locate the manual gas control valve.
2. Hold a lit long match or long butane lighter near the burner ports on top of the burner. For a
Natural Gas unit, turn on the ON/OFF valve slowly at the unit. For a LP unit, turn the valve in the LP
tank counter clockwise all the way and then turn on the ON/OFF valve slowly at the unit.
3. If the burner does not light within 10 seconds, turn the valve o and wait 5 minutes for any gas
to dissipate before repeang the procedure.
4. To shut down the burner turn the burner control knob clockwise to the o posion. Then turn
the gas o at the source (propane cylinder valve or natural gas supply valve).
Note: The propane regulator in this appliance is equipped with a low ow protecon device. Unless
the propane cylinder valve is opened before the appliance valve, the gas ow will be reduced resulng
in a very small ame. To reset this device, shut o the appliance valve, then the propane cylinder valve.
Next, diconnect the regulator adaptor from the tank and then reconnect. Follow the lighng procedure
ensuring the propane cylinder valve is opened before the unit is.
