GE - General Electric GFWR4805FRR Questions and Answers

#1 Do the newer model washers' doors open on the right or the
left? Are they reversible? Same question regarding the
matching dryer.

Front-load washers have the hinge on the left side of the door
and open to the left only. They do not have reversible doors
because of the electronics involved with the door lock
mechanism. The door swing is reversible on the matching
dryer GFDR485EF/GF.

#2 Why does the washer stink! I was told by the dealer that GE
had resolved this problem but clearly not. The gasket is
discolored with mold/mildew. If reduced soap, even
changed soaps per the dealers recommendation, sanitized
with bleach etc.

I had the same problem immediately and called the store I
bought it from. The service man said all front washers have
this issue, told me to keep the door cracked until it dries out
and to keep the rubber fold clean (back and front). He also
said to use the washer cleaning product once/month. I
haven't had a problem since. My loads of wash never smell.
I don't even use the washer cleaner once a month any
more.
