Chapter 12
Tips, Safety, Maintenance
! Always follow basic safety precautions. Refer to the Important Safety
Instructions booklet packed with your camera.
! Do not allow chemicals, such as suntan lotion, to come into contact with
the painted surface of the camera.
! If the camera has been subjected to inclement weather or you suspect
water has gotten inside the camera, turn off the camera and remove the
battery and card. Allow all components to air-dry for at least 24 hours
before using the camera again. If this does not resolve the problem,
contact customer support (see page 106).
! Clean the lens, EVF, and LCD screen:
1 Blow gently on the lens, EVF, or LCD screen to remove dust and dirt.
2 Wipe the lens, EVF, or LCD screen gently with a soft, lint-free cloth or an
untreated lens-cleaning tissue.
Do not use cleaning solutions unless they are designed specifically for
camera lenses. Do not wipe the camera lens, EVF, or LCD screen
with chemically treated eyeglass lens tissue. It may scratch the
lens.
! Wipe the outside of the camera with a clean, dry cloth. Never use harsh or
abrasive cleaners or organic solvents on the camera or any of its parts.
! Connect a tripod directly to the camera; do not connect a tripod to the
camera dock.
! Service agreements are available in some countries. Contact a dealer of
Kodak products for more information.
! For digital camera disposal or recycling information, contact your local
authorities. In the US, visit the Electronics Industry Alliance Web site at
www.eiae.org or the Kodak Web site at
www.kodak.com/go/dx6490support.
