You are right there isn't a big difference. It is when you hit the turbo convection selector button you will see the turbo convection icon appear on the icon screen. You will also hear a low hum sound indicating this is working. If you don't feel the fan pushing out air from the right hand side of the oven and don't hear this low hum then you have a problem with this unit.
You should definitely hear the fan when on and feel the
air coming out on the side. Sounds like you are doing
everything correctly. So fan air or sound means
problem!

No. There was no cookbook with the oven.

You can use a damp cloth in cleaning the surfaces of the interior of the oven or use a microfiber sponge to remove all grime. Also, any oven cleaner is applicable to use in this oven, but if you prefer homemade oven cleaner you may use baking soda and water.

The outside of the oven does not get hot. Only when you open the oven after cooking does heat leak ou.
