If the washer is not agitating, I would recommend to check the following.

Check to see if the lid switch probe/magnet is still in place. Some models have a small plastic piece that fits into a hole in the bottom right side of the open lid, which activates the lid switch when the lid is closed. Other models have a plastic coated magnet, that’s fastened with two screws, in the top right side of the open lid. Depending on the model, if probe or the magnet is missing, the washer will not agitate or spin even if the lid is closed.

If the above suggestions does not help, then I recommend having it checked by an authorized GE service technician.
