The ducting can also be connected at the back.

222 x 89 mm flat exhaust ducting can be used as an alternative for ducting to
the rear or to the side.

The rangehood is secured in the cut-out by clamps. This requires that the
installation surface is made of a solid material, such as wood. Make sure that the
material is strong enough to bear the weight of the rangehood and the edge
extraction panel(s). There must be a minimum distance of 25mm between the areas
around the clamps and any structures or components, such as struts or cables.

Alternatively, the rangehood can be secured to four fixing points on an interim shelf.

Safety distance (S)
The minimum distances between the highest part of a cooktop (including
trivets, dials - depending on model) and the bottom of the rangehood are as
follows, unless a greater distance is specified by the manufacturer of your
cooking appliance. See also "Warning and Safety instructions".
