Sony GV-D1000 Questions and Answers

#1 Can I play miniDV cassette with it?

Yes! I own two, one for travel and one stays with my computer. MiniDV tapes play excellent on the GV-D1000. It does not play miniDV HD. Sony has a newer model that plays miniDV HD. I also use my Sony GV-D1000 to transfer movies from VHS, Beta, DVD and Laser to my computer, then burn a DVD from that which is transferred to my hard drive. It also has an S-Video with the standard composit (RCA connections). I should mention that I use Macintosh computers with the iMovie program that comes with the iMac. I hope this information helps you

#2 Does this video walkman sony gv-d1000 play hd tapes ? I think the answer is no. Does sony gv 700 play hd tapes?

The gv1000 does not play hd tapes, but the Sony gv700 does play hd tapes. You were right in thinking.

#3 Can this thing play mini DV 60?

It plays any standard format miniDV tapes, does not play high definition miniDV tapes. Please take a minute and read the listing before making any purchase.
I can assist if you email me the model # of the camcorder you were using as the most common mistake people do to buy equipment base on the tape not the format that the camcorder recorded.
Tapes do not speak what format they were recorded onto, the model # of your camcorder does.
Take care, Norman from I & N electronics.
