#1 Does it have a timer?

No not a minute timer but it has a light system to let you know when ready to use and it cycles the ready light every 4 minutes

#2 Does it tell u when waffle is done?

No. The manual does give an estimated time. It also depends on the batter used. I generally make my own batter. For softer waffles, I'll let it cook for around 2.5 minutes. For crisper waffles, 3-3.5 minutes. Just set a timer. It is very consistent. Great waffle maker. I suggest mixing your batter a little on the wet side.

#3 Can I use it like a regular waffle iron? For example can I put mix directly into the maker without the top piece?

I would not even try it. The interior of the waffle iron is not flat. The batter would spill over. By the way, this waffle iron is in my opinion fairly particular about the thickness of the batter.

#4 Is there a way to get a replacement spout?

The worst appliance in my kitchen. The name volcano is perfect it boiled the mix back up and out edges even using less than enough to make a full waffle...

#5 Are the waffle plates removable? is this ptfe/pfoa free nonstick?

Yes it is nonstick. This makes a very nice, thick waffle. However the design is terrible and it is difficult to clean. It's hard to put the batter through that spout in the top. Save yourself the trouble and buy something else.
