The ice maker is in the freezer section. The door unit dispenses
water only. Also, the ice maker in my unit required two repairs and a
replacement in the first year. Be certain there is a qualified repair
company in your area who will handle warranty claims.

Doors open beyond 36 inches. But fridge should be forward of the
surrounding cabinets.

I have had mine 4-5 months. We like it a lot. I installed water line
myself. It came well packaged. Perfect shape. Works really well.
Only two complaints, ice is not super fast so it falls behind for a
large family or party setting. Also, the freezer when pulling out
the top drawer has a catch that pulls it out slightly, my son
pulled a little quick and it broke the smaller plastic knuckle.
Other than that we are really happy. We had a true built in prior
and couldn’t get to paying $8-9,000 to replace so this in my
opinion was of great value
