• Never place the appliance on or near hot or slippery surfaces; never leave the cord hanging
over a heat source (hotplates, gas stove, etc.).
• Make sure that the electric power supply is compatible with the power rating and voltage indi-
cated on the bottom of the appliance.
• Always plug the appliance into an earthed socket.
• If the power supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service
agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
• If need be, make sure to choose an extension lead of equivalent diameter with an earthed
socket; take all necessary precautions to prevent anyone tripping over an extension cord.
• This appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-
control system.
• Do not place cooking utensils on the cooking surfaces of the appliance.
• Always use a wooden or plastic spatula to avoid damaging the cooking plate.
• Never cut food directly on the plates.
• To prevent damage to the plates, only use them on the appliance for which they were designed
(e.g., do not place in an oven, on the gas ring or electric hot-plate, etc.).
• Do not place the hot plate under water or on a fragile surface.
• Connect the cord into the wall socket : the red light comes on.
• Allow the appliance to pre-heat : the green light comes on when the correct cooking temperature
is reached.
• On first use, there may be a slight odour and a little smoke during the first few minutes.
In these cases open the window an wait until there is no more smoke or odour.
Cooking
• Place the toasted sandwiches on the toasted sandwich plate.
• Close the appliance and tighten the handles progressively to firmly seal the slices of bread.
• Leave to cook for 3 to 4 minutes depending on your taste.
• During use it is normal for the green light to go on and off.
• Do not touch the hot surfaces of the appliance : use the handles.
• Never use metal scourers or scouring powders to avoid damaging the cooking surface (e.g.: non-
stick coating, ...).
Cleaning
• Unplug the cord form the mains socket. Let the appliance cool down.
• Check that the appliance is unplugged before cleaning.
• Leave the appliance to cool in an open position at least 2 hours.
• Clean the plates and the body of the appliance with a sponge, hot water and washing up liq-
uid.
• Do not use scouring pads or hard abrasive powder.
• Never immerse the appliance or the power cord in water. They are not dishwasher safe.
The appliance and the power cord cannot go into the dishwasher.
