Instant Pot 140-5002-01 Questions and Answers

#1 What is the minimum amount of rice that can be cooked in the 8 cup size? Can I cook just 1 cup of rice?

Great question! Yes you can make as little as 1 cup of rice in the Zest. Trying to make less than that may result in the finished rice ending up too dry.

#2 How long will it keep food warm?

Thanks for your question. The Zest Rice and Grain Cooker can keep warm for up to 10 hours, when used as a standalone function. When it is used in conjunction with other Smart Programs it can keep warm for 12 hours.

#3 What are the inner cup markings used for? In my old rice cooker, they tell me how much water to use. 3 scoops rice = fill water to "3" cup mark.

The markings correspond to the cup that comes with the Zest. The cup is not a true cup. It's a standard rice measurement cup. So the recipe says 2: 2, rice: water. Then you'd put in level 2 cups of rice, and fill the pot with water to the 2-mark. Hope that makes sense, and your rice comes out nice and fluffy!

#4 Is your Plastic Steamer Tray good for my health? Why not a Stainless Steel Tray?

e remain committed to providing high-quality products, and customer satisfaction and safety is our top priority. Instant Brands’ products comply with all applicable industry standards. The Zest is compliant with FDA standards, and the plastic components are all BPA free. The Zest is PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) and PFOA free. The steam tray is made of Polypropylene (PP). We will pass on your feedback to our product team for review.

#5 Is it dishwasher safe?

The inner pot is dishwasher safe. The electrical pot is not, and the lid on the Zest is not detachable.
